Corrib Shopping Centre 

Déanann Ionad Siopadóireachta na Coiribe gach iarracht an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn i gcónaí. This is proven from our signage in place throughout the shopping Centre since 1991. You are greeted when entering and exiting our premises and also when locating us on our website. With every change we make, we endeavour to incorporate the Irish language.

KD Autoparts

Bunaíodh KD Autoparts i 1999. Tá seirbhís trí Ghaeilge ar fáil anseo ó Mhaureen Duggan, cainteoir dúchais. Baineann cuid mhaith dár gcuid gcustaiméirí leas as seo agus déanann siad a ngnó trí Ghaeilge linn. Táimid breá sásta a bheith páirteach i nGradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2018.

Kennys Bookshop and Art Galleries Ltd.    

‘Leabhair do chuile Mheabhair’ – sin é ár rosc. Tá an bailiúchán is mó leabhair Ghaeilge sa tír ar díol againn. Kennys have the largest stock of Irish language books in Ireland. They have always had a service available through Irish and are constantly marketing Irish writers and their work.


Osclaíodh doirse Lanidor, Gaillimh ar 30 Sráid Eyre don chéad uair ar an 14 Deireadh Fómhair 2017.  Proprietor Caroline McCarthy and her team are all Irish speakers and provide bilingual signage throughout the store as well as incorporating the Irish language into social media, advertising and on the store’s website.

Mary’s Fish 

Ba mhór an onóir dúinn ‘Bronnadh Speisialta na Moltóirí’ a bhaint amach i nGradam 2017. We were delighted to recieve the recognition for our bilingual efforts last year. It encouraged us to keep going!  Mary’s staff welcome customers in English or Irish, all signage is bilingual and a spectacular display of fresh fish each day are named in Irish and in English.

56 Central   

This year 56 Central introduced the Irish language throughout the restaurant. With the manager of the restaurant Rowena, being a fluent Irish speaker, once appearing on TG4, the language has a place in the hearts of the 56 Central Crew. They even have their own tag line, #ourhappyplace, translated to #ÁitAntSonais.

Galway Food Tours 

Having spent over 15 years in the food industry, Sheena Dignam’s passion has led her to launch Galway Food Tours. On each tour, we greet & welcome our guests in Irish. Our website and social media are in Irish. We are also running a series of food tours solely in Irish involving local shops, bakeries, distilleries and restaurants.

Harbour Hotel

At the Harbour Hotel, we are bold and proud of our use of Gaeilge throughout the hotel. “Gaillimh Abú” is lit up brightly over the hotel reception. Dillisk on the Docks promotes Gaeilge in its menus and once again the emphasis is on promoting Gaeilge to let our guest know they are in this vibrant region of cultúr.

The Connacht Hotel 

Táimid ar ais arís! Winning the tourism category for the past two years has encouraged the team to embrace Irish and to make it part of our working day. We are delighted to be in a position to influence the other businesses in The Connacht Hospitality Group to use Irish and promote Galway as Ireland’s Bilingual city.

The Lough Inn Bar & Accommodation 

Based in the heart of Galway, at 32 Woodquay, we are a local bar with live music on Saturday and Sunday nights. Bíonn neart custaiméirí againn óna hOileáin Árann agus ó Chonamara. Irish is spoken on a daily basis and we try to encourage all our staff and customers to speak a ‘cúpla focal’ daily.

Colm’s Pharmacy 

Colm’s Pharmacy & Health Food Store, Salthill has a greater awareness of both the cultural and economic impact of using the written and spoken word with both our customers and visitors and hope to do more of this in the future. Taking this journey with Gaillimh le Gaeilge will help us achieve those aims le cúnamh Dé.

Galvia West Medical Centre 

Drs Sinéad Feeney and Séamus Cryan share a grá of the Irish language and are really enjoying being part of its resurgence in Galway. We are increasing the use of ‘An Ghaeilge’ in our signage, stationery and social media. Our staff who speak Irish are enjoying using it again, while those who are new to it, are enthusiastically learning the ‘cúpla focal’.

Kemple Gormley Solicitors 

Kemple Gormley Solicitors is a dynamic and client focused firm, now situated in the heart of Galway City and in Tuam, Co. Galway. Swaine Solicitors is a Galway based legal firm. We regularly provide legal services to clients through the medium of Irish. We act on behalf of a number of Gaeltacht based companies and individuals. We have also conducted cases ‘as Gaeilge’ in the High Court.

Sweeney Oil 

Is comhlacht teaghlaigh é Sweeney Oil a fhostaíonn daoine áitiúla agus a thacaíonn le pobail áitiúla trí urraíocht a dhéanamh ar spóirt agus ar imeachtaí áitiúla.

We have incorporated the Irish language onto brochures, have launched a bilingual website and have several members of staff who can provide a ‘seirbhís trí Ghaeilge’.

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children 

Baboró is Ireland’s flagship international arts festival devoted exclusively to children and families, hosting a week-long festival in Galway each October. Baboró will feature more Irish in its marketing material, social media and public announcements, identify Irish-speaking staff and equip all staff with basic Irish phrases during staff training in order to better support the Irish language.

Galway City Business Association 

The GCBA is promoting the use of the Irish language among its members and city businesses. Doing business bilingually, feeds very well into our mission of highlighting Galway’s uniqueness while showcasing our city’s heritage & culture. We want customers and visitors to join with the GCBA in experiencing, enjoying and embracing our language-an Ghaeilge.


iSupply Sea Road  have endeavoured to make our unique premises a forerunner in improving bilingual printing business in Galway.  We also like to encourage our customers to use the Irish language where possible in their printing and signage and liaise with GLEG to achieve this.  We make a special effort to reflect the Irish language in our in house signage and wall prints.
