Bord Stiúrtha Ghaillimh le Gaeilge welcomes two new members to the board: Maeve Joyce Crehan and Mary Rodgers. Gaillimh le Gaeilge works in association with Galway City Council, Galway Chamber, and other groups to promote the Irish language in the city.
Maeve has spent her working life in the areas of communications: as an educator, journalist, public relations executive and general manager. Her work within the Galway business community over the past twenty years has given her a real knowledge of the wants and needs of business, now and into the future.
As part of the team at the Crane Bar, Maeve supports and promotes Galway worldwide as a unique traditional music, language and cultural destination. She looks forward to using her connections and skillset in supporting and promoting the work of Gaillimh le Gaeilge.
Mary Rodgers is the CEO of Galway City Innovation District and works with Technology start-ups across Galway and the West to create high value sustainable jobs for the Region.
Mary’s mother is from Inis Mór and despite having spent many years in the US, Mary’s favourite place in the whole world is Inis Mór where she escapes to at every opportunity. An enthusiastic Irish speaker, Mary enjoys incorporating Irish into her business and social life. She brings a strong network, boundless energy and a grá for all things GLEG (Gaillimh le Gaeilge).
Cathaoirleach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge, Bernadette Mullarkey welcomed both new members and said,
