“…an ciúnas a chreimfeas an ceantar seo – níos measa ná ceimiceán ar bith…”

Performed in Irish with English surtitles.

BAOITE tells the compelling contemporary story of a fishing family torn apart by the silence and lies of their community, while actively engaged in protesting against offshore fracking in their area. This thriller exposes the silence, shame, and lies inherent in the psyche of rural Ireland through the eyes of the main character, Cáit.

Cáit wants a child. When her third round of IVF fails, she has to choose between supporting her community as they resist the destructive fracking or betraying them her own personal gain.

The strong cast includes Siobhan O’Kelly, Macdara Ó Fátharta, Diarmuid De Faoite, and Seán T. Ó Meallaigh, and the play features an original soundtrack which will be performed live by Saileog Ní Cheannabháin and Maitiú Ó Casaide. Set design is by artist Seán Ó Flaithearta, and the author, Darach Mac Con Iomaire will direct.

Tickets for this drama will be in huge demand. It is recommended to book well in advance online at www.antaibhdhearc.com, or by phone on 091 562024.

“..Ná habair tusa focal – ach coinnigh agat féin é,

ní fhaca tú tada – is níl milleán ar éinne…”
