Jack Chambers, TD, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Sport & the Gaeltacht announced that Galway City\u2019s first ever Irish Language Plan has been approved. The main aim of the plan, in line with Government policy, is to increase the use and communicative knowledge of Irish as a community language in Galway City on an incremental basis. The plan will strengthen Galway\u2019s status as an official bilingual city and draw public attention to the importance of having \u2018Service through Irish<\/a>\u2019 available in the city, especially for those who wish to conduct their business in Irish in the public sector and in the private sector.
