There is just a few days left until the big event when Aire St\u00e1it Se\u00e1n Kyne TD<\/strong> do <\/strong>Ghn\u00f3tha\u00ed Pobail, Acmhainn\u00ed N\u00e1d\u00fartha agus Forbairt Dhigiteach\u00a0<\/strong>will announce the Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh category winners and the overall winner for 2018. Fifteen Galway businesses on the Gradam Gearrliosta, are very busy preparing for the special awards ceremony taking place on Thursday the 24th<\/sup> of May at 6.30pm in the Rockbarton Suite, Salthill Hotel. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Gaillimh le Gaeilge has organised Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh, for the past 16 years in association with the Galway Advertiser and with support from the Galway Chamber. \u00a0The Gradam celebrates and applauds the outstanding efforts of the business community in Galway city \u00a0that use the Irish language in their daily business.<\/p>\n

Also at the event, \u2018Duais Aitheantais Pheadair U\u00ed Fhlatharta\u2019 will be presented for the first time on behalf of Bord Sti\u00fartha Ghaillimh le Gaeilge and in association with \u2018Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge\u2019, DCU. Duais Aitheantais Pheadair U\u00ed Fhlatharta was launched last month by Uachtar\u00e1n Ollscoil na h\u00c9ireann, an tOllamh Ciar\u00e1n \u00d3 h\u00d3gartaigh at the announcement of the Gradam Gearrliosta in \u00c1ras na Gaeilge, NUI Galway. The Duais Aitheantais is in memory of Dr Peadar \u00d3 Flatharta, founding member and the first Cathaoirleach of Gaillimh le Gaeilge. Through his vision and foresight, he laid down the foundation for the growth and success of the organisation. A beautiful piece of sculpture is especially designed by the renowned artist P\u00e1draic Reaney, a sean-chara of Peadar. It will be presented to a person or an organisation who have made a great effort to use the Irish language in their daily lives but who are not primarily involved with the Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh award.<\/p>\n

Every year we\u2019re wondering if this year\u2019s \u00a0Gradam will be as good as the previous \u00a0year and lo and behold, yes it is! \u00a0It\u2019s those taking part that bring a different dynamism and energy to the Gradam. It\u2019s great to see it improving and continuing to move forward with the times we\u2019re in\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Gearrliosta features a wide variety of businesses from one of the largest taxi companies in Galway city to an International Arts Festival for children who all have one thing in common – they have embraced bilingualism into their business! The Gradam Gearrliosta will have an opportunity to showcase and celebrate all of their bilingual endeavours to a host of guests, family and friends as well as business colleagues on the night.<\/p>\n

The winners will remain a closely guarded secret until Thursday, the 24th<\/sup> of May when the announcements will be made!
