Guests were presented with a statement from Declan Varley, the Group Editor of the Galway Advertiser. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Irish language is a jewel in the Galway crown. As such, it is our responsibility to ensure it is preserved for future generations. At the time of great advances in terms of Artificial Intelligence, there is a danger that as a society we will opt for easier ways of getting things done that require less critical thinking. \u00a0 We cannot allow An Ghaeilge to become one of the skills and treasures that we let slip along the way merely because it is perceived as being the difficult option. They received a beautiful sculpture designed especially for the Gradam by P\u00e1draic Reaney, depicting the 14 Tribes of Galway, with one extra tribe outstanding, symbolising the Gradam winner \u2013 the new Tribe of Galway. They will receive an advertising package from the main sponsor of the Gradam, the <strong>Galway Advertiser<\/strong>, a publicity package with <strong>TG4<\/strong> and one year\u2019s membership of <strong>Galway Chamber<\/strong> and <strong>Gaillimh le Gaeilge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The other proud Gradam award winners on the night were: <strong>Just Art It &#8211; <\/strong>Winner of the \u2018Retail\u2019 Category, sponsored by <strong>Galway Bay FM<\/strong><strong>; Murphy &amp; Me<\/strong> Winner of the \u2018Customer Service\u2019 Category, sponsored by <strong>Computer Troubleshooters<\/strong>; <strong>Irish Socksciety <\/strong>Winner of the \u2018Digital\u2019 Category sponsored by <strong>Platform 94<\/strong>; <strong>Feachtas Rotha\u00edochta na Gaillimhe<\/strong> Winner of the \u2018Community &amp; Culture\u2019 Category, sponsored by <strong>Acadamh na hOllscola\u00edochta Gaeilge, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Gradam category winners all received a business package to the value of \u20ac2,000 from their respective category sponsor as well as a replica of Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh sponsored by <strong>\u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta. <\/strong><strong>MOLSC\u00c9AL<\/strong> are also sponsoring the Gradam again this year and created the video on the night, taking in all the action of the winners and finalists at the event.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s <strong>\u2018Bronnadh Speisialta na Molt\u00f3ir\u00ed\u2019<\/strong> was awarded to a new business that has entered the Gradam for the first time and has achieved a very high standard.\u00a0 Judy Greene Pottery sponsored this award and it was presented to <strong>Dar\u00f3g Wine Bar<\/strong>, on Dominick Street. Dar\u00f3g has also just won the Connaught and All-Ireland titles for Best Wine Experience at the Irish Restaurant Association Awards.<\/p>\n<p>As recognition of their commitment to learning the Irish language, two businesses were awarded <strong>University Scholarships<\/strong>. The Gradam is a wonderful way of encouraging business with all levels of Irish to stitch the language into their business and the standard of this year\u2019s applicants was very high, particularly amongst newcomers.
