{"id":4674,"date":"2018-03-12T10:55:04","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T10:55:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gleg.local\/?p=4674"},"modified":"2024-09-12T14:23:34","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T13:23:34","slug":"business-bilingually-increasingly-becoming-norm-galway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gleg.ie\/gaeilge\/business-bilingually-increasingly-becoming-norm-galway\/","title":{"rendered":"Doing Business Bilingually  is increasingly becoming the norm in Galway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Adjudication process is now underway in Gaillimh le Gaeilge\u2019s search for the best bilingual business in Galway City as the nominees for Gradam 2018 have been announced. \u00a0Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh, in association with the Galway Advertiser and with support from the Galway Chamber, is now closed for nominations as the molt\u00f3ir\u00ed begin the difficult task of selecting a shortlist and choosing category winners as well as the overall winner for 2018. This year, 21 businesses and organisations nominated from a wide variety of sectors have entered. 14 of these 21 businesses are entering the Gradam for the very first time.<\/p>\n<p>Br\u00edd N\u00ed Chongh\u00f3ile of Gaillimh le Gaeilge said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the second year in a row where we have a record number of new entries. While we always welcome previous participants to the Gradam, it\u2019s always exciting to see newcomers taking part. The Gradam process is a wonderful opportunity for any business or organisation to showcase the Irish language in their business and this year\u2019s participants will do so, with \u2018pride, passion and purpose\u2019. It\u2019s great to see that \u2018doing business bilingually\u2019 is increasingly becoming the norm in our city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0mixture\u00a0of new and established businesses are taking part in the Gradam this year. They range from; Ireland\u2019s flagship international arts festival for children, Galway\u2019s largest taxi company, as well as one of the largest hotels in the west of Ireland,\u00a0 a medical centre that has a gr\u00e1 for the Irish language and a beautiful sweet shop located in the heart of Galway.<\/p>\n<p>An independent adjudicating panel of \u2018molt\u00f3ir\u00ed\u2019 has been appointed to Gradam Sheosaimh U\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh and they are: Aelmuire N\u00ed \u00d3gartaigh, Freda Nic Giolla Chath\u00e1in, Pr\u00edomhfheidhmeannach, Gn\u00f3 Mhaigh Eo, Sonya Nic Lochlainn, Bainisteoir Seirbh\u00eds\u00ed Corpr\u00e1ideacha, \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta and Irial \u00d3 Ceallaigh, TG4.<\/p>\n<p>The Gradam Molt\u00f3ir\u00ed will meet for the first time on Thursday 19<sup>th<\/sup> April to select the Gearrliosta.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr.
