The Fulacht Fia was kindly sponsored by Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stewart.ie\/\"><strong>Joyce\u2019s Supermarkets, Galway,<\/strong><\/a><strong> \u00a0<\/strong><strong>Stewart Construction and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweeneyoil.ie\"> Sweeney Oil<\/a><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0 M\u00edle bu\u00edochas d\u00f3ibh ar fad.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the event, Bernadette Mullarkey, Cathaoirleach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge extended a warm \u2018c\u00e9ad m\u00edle f\u00e1ilte\u2019 to the newly <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gaillimhlegaei.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/DSC_6616-446x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5144 alignright\" \/>elected Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. N\u00edall McNelis. \u00a0She also thanked all of the funding organisations who have supported Gaillimh le Gaeilge over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Gaillimh le Gaeilge\u2019s main support comes from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, through the National Lottery. They also are supported by Galway City Council and Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge through the Galway Chamber.\u00a0 This support is essential for the organisation to maintain their various bilingual services and practical supports for those who wish to use the Irish language in their daily businesses and organisations in Galway city.<\/p>\n<p>Cathaoirleach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge also thanked the media for their support chun \u2018sc\u00e9al\u2019 Ghaillimh le Gaeilge a choinne\u00e1il i l\u00e1r an aonaigh and praised the businesses who bring the Irish language to life in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cT\u00e1 obair dh\u00e1theangach den scoth ar bun agaibh sa chathair agus tr\u00e9asla\u00edm libh as sin. The work that you are doing is creating a fantastic synergy in the city, which makes Galway unique and different. This will be vital in 2020 when we will be the European Capital of Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Gypsy Jazz Trio entertained the crowd and created a wonderful atmosphere as they enjoyed the tasty food in the <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gaillimhlegaei.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/DSC_6534-499x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5151 alignleft\" \/>Galmont.<\/p>\n<p>Among Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge in attendance were; David Hickey, President of Galway Chamber, Alan Esslemont, Ardsti\u00farth\u00f3ir TG4, an Dr Aodh\u00e1n Mac Cormaic, Sti\u00farth\u00f3ir na Gaeilge, Emma Dillon-Leetch from the Connacht Hotel, Gradam 2018 winner, \u00c9amon \u00d3 Cu\u00edv TD, Galway City Councillors; Cllr D\u00f3nal Lyons, Cllr. P\u00e1draig Conneely, Cllr Terry O\u2019Flaherty as well as Declan Varley, Group Editor of the Galway Advertiser and Bernadette Prendergast, Galway Bay FM.<\/p>\n<p>Gaillimh le Gaeilge would like to thank everyone that attended and would like to say a special \u2018m\u00edle bu\u00edochas\u2019 to the sponsors of the Fulacht Fia. Bu\u00edochas to all of the staff at the Galmont, who provided fabulous food and especially to Colm who provided an excellent \u2018Seirbh\u00eds tr\u00ed Ghaeilge\u2019!
