Let’s get Galway city talking,trí Ghaeilge!#SeirbhísTríGhaeilge

Tuesday’s Tribe – Digital Gaeltacht.

Does your company or organisation in Galway city provide a service in Irish #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge to your customers? If so, we at Gaillimh le Gaeilge invite you to take part in our #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge campaign and shout it from the roof top!

In Galway city, there is a vibrant Irish-speaking community that is growing. Be proud of your   Irish-speaking staff!   Remember, we are not only home to our own city-Gaeltacht and gateway to the Connemara Gaeltacht, but we are also Ireland’s Bilingual  Cultural City! It’s our unique selling point!

Offering a service in Irish allows you to reach out to a larger customer base, since you are openly informing the public that you can cater to all Irish speakers, both learners and native speakers alike.

PREVIOUSLY…

Two new initiatives created by Ollscoil na Gaillimhe and Gaillimh le Gaeilge to increase the use of spoken Irish in Galway city was launched last year by the former Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. Clodagh Higgins.

Both initiatives are key measures outlined in the Irish Language Plan for Galway City which have an instrumental role to play in achieving the status of ‘Gaeltacht Service Town’ for Galway. The plan includes the creation of a local directory, along with badges, to identify those who can speak Irish.

The local directory ‘An tEolaire – Seirbhís trí Ghaeilge’ created by Gaillimh le Gaeilge  with the support of the Department of the Gaeltacht is a comprehensive list of businesses and organisations in the city who can provide a #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge.  For more details,  check out www.gaillimhlegaei.wpenginepowered.com

Ollscoil na Gaillimhe created  new broach pins so that staff who provide services in Irish could be easily identified. The broaches are being distributed around Galway city.

If you would like to sign your company up to An tEolaire, please follow the link below or feel free to email [email protected] for more information.

NEXT STEP… Let’s get Galway city talking, trí Ghaeilge!

ANOIS, we are moving forward to the next step  – letting the people of Galway know WHO and WHERE offers a  #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge to their customers.

This campaign will take place on our digital Gaeltacht platform on social media!

Every week, we will post a Galway city-based business or organisation that offers a #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge. Our ‘Tuesday Tribe’ will be uploaded every Tuesday afternoon informing our followers  ‘that’ a  particular company is  proud of their Irish speaking staff and wish to offer their customers a choice of language.

Watch out for the weekly ‘Tuesday Tribe’ on our social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn) and keep an eye out for our cut-out #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge around the streets of Gaillimh Galway. Please note it will also be a Gaeltacht zone when strolling the streets of Galway city!

If you are a business looking to take part in this digital Gaeltacht campaign, please email [email protected] for more information. Let’s get Galway city talking, trí Ghaeilge! #SeirbhísTríGhaeilge
