Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2018
Galway Businesses and organisation were well represented at the press event in the Eyre Square Centre when, the Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. Pearce Flannery launched Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh for 2018. The Gradam is now officially open for nominations until Monday the 23rd of February 2018. Click here to enter online.
At the event he also announced the sponsors of the Gradam for the year ahead:
This year, the main media sponsor is once again the Galway Advertiser. TG4 are also on board, as well as all of the category sponsors and they are as follows:
- Galway Bay FM who are sponsoring the Retail Category
- Fáilte Ireland who are sponsoring the Tourism and Hospitality Category
- Snap Galway who are sponsoring the Services Category
- Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh who are sponsoring the ‘Other Companies’ Category. They are also sponsoring a two year scholarship on the language acquisition course, ‘An Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge’, a university qualification from NUI Galway.
Údarás Na Gaeltachta have renewed their sponsorship for the next three years and the Galway Chamber are also providing sponsorship to the overall winner.
This year, the Gradam has a new sponsor and they are; the award winning Social Media Agency, Lorg Media. The total value of this sponsorship for Gradam 2018 is worth over €23,000.
Gaillimh le Gaeilge is currently putting a schedule together and would love to meet with businesses and organisations who are interested in using the Irish language to create a bilingual business. The closing date for Gradam entries is Monday the 23rd of February 2018. They will examine various possibilities in terms of the use of Irish in your business or organisation and you have over 3 months to prepare as adjudication will take place in mid-April.

After an audit of the previous website, Bord Stiúrtha Ghaillimh le Gaeilge decided to redevelop it in order to maximise the use of new technologies that are now available.
At the press event, Gaillimh le Gaeilge also launched their redesigned website (www.gleg.ie) developed by Armour, to coincide with Gradam 2018.
Gaillimh le Gaeilge would like to thank the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht for the special funding that they provided for the redesign of the site – Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
