Ionad Siopadóireachta na Coiribe /The Corrib Shopping Centre was delighted to announce Naoise Geraghty from Scoil Shéamais Naofa Bearna as the winner of the inaugural Comórtas Aiste – ‘An Nollaig is fearr a bhí agam riamh’. Naoise received a beautiful hamper with a mixture of Irish and English language books sponsored by Kennys Bookshop & Art Galleries and he also received a voucher to the value of €300.00 for his school. The competition was adjudicated by Gaillimh le Gaeilge and their Ardfheidhmeannach Bríd Ní Chonghóile made the presentation to Naoise. He was joined by his family on Thursday evening at the launch of the Christmas season in the Corrib Shopping Centre and was delighted to accept the duais with a great big smile and a ‘Go raibh míle maith agaibh’!
The Corrib Shopping Centre and Kennys Bookshop both participated in Gaillimh le Gaeilge’s annual bilingual business awards – Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh earlier this year. The Gradam organised by Gaillimh le Gaeilge in association with the Galway Advertiser and with special support from TG4 and the Galway Chamber, recognises and celebrates companies and organisations in Galway city that use the Irish language in their day-to-day business and who contribute to Galway’s status as Ireland’s Bilingual City and European Capital of Culture 2020.
Speaking at the presentation, Bríd Ní Chonghóile of Gaillimh le Gaeilge said; Comhghairdeachas le Naoise, scríobh sé aiste álainn agus cá bhfios nach mbeidh sé ina scríbhneoir cáiliúil amach anseo agus a chuid leabhar á ndíol ag Siopa Leabhar & Dánlann Uí Chionnaith! We are delighted to be part of this project ‘Comórtas Aiste 2018’ and it’s also great to see participants of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh working in collaboration to promote ‘An Ghaeilge’ i measc ghlúin óg na cathrach. Táimid ag súil le ‘Comórtas Aiste 2019’ cheana féin!
