“Sweeney Oil first took part in Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh in 2017. We felt very strongly about our West of Ireland – Galway Heritage and culture. Our community had supported us through difficult times and wanted togive something back – we wanted to be more than just a service provider. With a number of native Irish speakers on the team and a customer base that also were fluent Irish speakers we wanted to embrace our Irish language. We have experienced huge support from all the team at Gaillimh le Gaeilge. It has been a challenging and rewarding journey to date. We are very proud to be part of this celebration of our Irish language and we hope to not only continue with this bilingual brand building but to hopefully encourage the business community at large to also embrace and be proud of our language. As a marketeer, you are trained to identify a tone or voice for the company you represent. So many companies spend so much time looking for that unique identifier, when the reality and solution is right under our nose. We are Irish, we have a voice and a tone and we should celebrate our own unique language. The most important thing any of us can do to serve our customers is make them feel at ease, appreciate them and understand their needs – what is a more obvious way then to allow them to talk to us in their own language. Ultimately our message is that we have gained so much from being part of this initiative, we have added to our resources and team, with the help of Gaillimh le Gaeilge, we have embraced our wider customer needs and we have found our own identity. We encourage all business to get involved, no matter what your offering, or your resources, every step no matter how small initially is a building block for the future and one we should be proud to be part of – a big thank you from all at Sweeney Oil – this means a huge amount to all of us.”
